According to media reports, US actress Anne Heche was seriously injured in a car accident in Los Angeles.
The fire department reported that a woman drove a car into an apartment building in the Mar Vista neighborhood, which caused a fire to break out.
Officially, however, it has not been confirmed that the driver involved in the accident was Heche.
However, several media outlets, including CNN and NBCLA , cite unspecified sources confirming that it was Heche.
The celebrity website TMZ reported that Heche was taken to a hospital with burns.
Her condition is said to be critical.
The Los Angeles Times reported, citing authorities, that the actress was reported as the owner of the accident car.
Heche's management has not yet responded to a request from the dpa news agency.
Apparently rammed the garage wall and then drove away
According to eyewitness reports, the 53-year-old is said to have rammed a garage wall in the residential area and drove away at high speed before racing into the apartment building, TMZ reported.
A mother of two, Heche is known for roles in films such as Donnie Brasco, Six Days Seven Nights, Wag the Dog and Volcano.
TV viewers know her from series like »Ally McBeal« and »Nip/Tuck«.
Her marriage to cinematographer Coley Laffoon ended in divorce in 2009.
Before her marriage, Heche dated talk show host Ellen DeGeneres for a while.
