After the roller coaster accident in Klotten in Rhineland-Palatinate, in which a woman died, the Koblenz public prosecutor's office initiated a death investigation.
According to a statement, the 57-year-old slipped in her seat on a curve before falling eight meters off the roller coaster.
The woman died at the scene of the accident.
The accident in the wildlife and leisure park in Klotten, also known as “Klotti Park”, occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, about an hour and a half before it was supposed to close.
The park was closed on Sunday and Monday "to support the authorities in quickly clarifying the course of the accident," according to the website.
The public prosecutor's office further stated that the death investigation should determine whether the death of the woman was the result of the fault of a third party.
An autopsy of the deceased is also requested.
An expert should examine the roller coaster and the car in which the fatality sat for possible causes of the accident.
According to the announcement, no further findings are available so far.
The Mayen criminal police, who took over the investigation, did not want to comment further on request.
As the public prosecutor announced, there is currently no initial suspicion of criminal behavior.
The death investigation procedure serves as a preliminary procedure.
The park was opened in 1970 as a wildlife park on the Moselle heights near Klotten, according to the website.
Since the 1990s, it has been expanded into a leisure and family park with new attractions.
The roller coaster opened accordingly in 2004.
