By a curious coincidence, the authorities in Lower Saxony caught a man wanted by an arrest warrant: the 36-year-old fell asleep in a taxi in Leer in Lower Saxony, said the Federal Police Inspectorate in Bad Bentheim.

The taxi driver could not wake up the drunk 36-year-old sleeping in the back seat and drove to the federal police station in Bunde to ask the officials for help.

The investigation revealed that the man was wanted on an arrest warrant.

He had been convicted of theft and still had to pay a fine of 900 euros or serve a substitute prison sentence of 60 days.

The 36-year-old paid the fine and did not go to jail.
