It is the fire that is lurking underground.
He only needs a gust of wind to revive himself.
And as soon as there is food, it resurfaces”.
Since the start of the fire in mid-July, Jean-Baptiste, firefighter at the barracks in Arcachon (Gironde), has been fighting tirelessly against the flames which have ravaged 7,000 hectares of forest in La Teste-de-Buche (Gironde).
One would have thought that by “fixing” then “controlling” the fire at the end of July, the firefighters had done most of the work.
But the almost total absence of rain and the return this Monday of scorching temperatures have continued to give "food" to the fire which is just waiting to be rekindled.
