British-Australian actress and singer Olivia Newton-John died on Monday at the age of 73, her husband announced in a statement posted on social media.
She had become a planetary star by embodying the character of Sandy in the cult film "Grease", alongside John Travolta.
The actress "passed away peacefully at her ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends," the statement said.
Olivia Newton-John had been battling breast cancer for 30 years.
In 2018, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer for the third time, a tumor lodged at the bottom of the spine.
