If the wasps are particularly annoying, gardening expert René Wadas has a good tip: they run away from herbs such as lavender or mint.
It was just so cozy outside at the coffee table - the wasps saw it the same way and joined them in droves.
In this case, “herb doctor” René Wadas recommends putting the animals away naturally with a few pots of herbs.

Wasps are very smell-sensitive animals.
On the one hand, the scent of salami, ham and spicy, hearty dishes is very tempting for the wasps, and they do not shy away from sweets either.
On the other hand, they find some smells so repulsive that they give them a wide berth.
And that's exactly what we can use for our purposes, according to "plant doctor" René Wadas.
On
ZDF television
, the gardening expert gave the tip of placing a few small pots of strong-smelling herbs directly on the coffee table as a natural deterrent: "These plants have a lot of essential oils and the wasps don't like that." He recommends lavender for this, for example French lavender , peppermint or lemon balm, because "that's what keeps them away, so you can sit and eat your cake in peace."
If you want to drive the animals away, you can also use the following natural home remedies against wasps:
A distracting feeding, for example with grapes placed a few meters away.
Lighting ground coffee creates a lot of smoke and smoke, which stinks to insects.
Whether in the form of tubers or a portion of aioli on the dining table: wasps don’t like the smell of garlic either.
Spray the animals with water from a spray bottle.

But even if the wasps become a real nuisance, killing the wasps remains prohibited and is punishable by fines of up to 65,000 euros.
Not only wasps can be repelled with herbs - the fact that insects such as mosquitoes and flies or even spiders do not like certain smells also helps against the pests in your own four walls.
Basil, lemon-thyme or catnip have also proven useful here.
