Everyone is talking about flight delays and delays, but now - the exact truth data for every international airport and airline is being revealed.

The aviation and tourism website Sam Chui reports that a recently prepared comprehensive report ranks the level of delays, as measured worldwide during the month of July using the RadarBox website.

In this context, "delay" was defined as 30 minutes and more than the scheduled time.

Also, the cancellation data only shows cancellations made at the last minute, and does not refer to cancellations announced by the airlines ahead of time.

Europe: Most delays in Paris

In Europe, Paris ranks first in terms of flight delays (7,297 cancellations), followed by Frankfurt, London and Amsterdam.

As for the airlines in Europe - here the Rainier company takes the first place in delays, with 30,812 delays - more than twice as much as the next company in the ranking - EasyJet.

However, unlike the absolute numbers, the two companies show fairly similar percentages of delays - 32-33 percent of the flights).

In third place is Turkish Airlines, with 11,841 delays.

And also in Europe - Scandinavian, the Scandinavian airline that filed for bankruptcy, stands at the top of the cancellations table (2,000 cancellations, which is about 20 percent of its scheduled flights in July. The reason is an extensive pilot strike, and the company's dire financial situation.

The Middle East: Israel is the worst in terms of percentage of delays

And what is happening here in the Middle East?

In terms of the absolute number of flight delays, Dubai International Airport ranks first, with 4,143 delays, followed by Ben-Gurion Airport, with 3,116.

However, when you look at the situation in terms of the percentage of delays out of all flights, Bulgaria immediately climbs to the undistinguished first place, with about 40 percent of the flights (just for comparison, in Dubai it is about 24 percent of all flights).

About 40 percent of the flights were delayed in July this year.

United States: The Department of Transportation is fed up

It is particularly interesting to take a look at what is happening in the United States, where fliers encounter tens of thousands of delays from the airlines.

Against this background, and after a tremendous flow of complaints from passengers, last week the US Department of Transportation proposed to tighten the rules regarding compensation to be given to those whose flights were delayed or canceled.

In addition, it was suggested that passengers would be entitled to a refund even if the flight path changes at the last minute or an intermediate landing is added.

Now, the Ministry of Transportation is waiting for public comments regarding the expected changes.
