Ecological, economical and ultra-trendy, reusable make-up remover cotton is becoming a must in our make-up bag.
Without plastic packaging and with its zero waste side, washable cotton make-up remover has indeed become essential.
Like a classic make-up remover, the reusable make-up remover cotton perfectly removes make-up from the eyes and face while respecting your skin.
It is often composed of 2 different sides, one to cleanse and the other to exfoliate your skin.
Unlike classic cotton, you no longer throw it away, but you wash it!
It is therefore possible to reuse your washable make-up remover cotton many times.
As effective for the planet as for your wallet, reusable washable cotton has several advantages,
mainly when we know that a woman who wears make-up uses an average of 2,000 standard cotton pads over the course of a year.

What is the best fabric for washable cottons?
Washable makeup remover cotton should be soft and safe for the skin.
Most of the time, reusable cotton pads are made from bamboo which offers a particularly pleasant fabric suitable for the most sensitive skin.
Its absorption is also 4 times greater than with cotton.
In addition, we note that bamboo is perfect for the planet since it ingests more carbon dioxide and rejects less oxygen than most trees.
Cotton is another material widely used in the production of reusable make-up remover cotton.
Less expensive than bamboo, it is also very soft for the skin and it is also possible to use organic cotton in order to continue the ecological approach.
Finally, we can find a product called tencel which is a eucalyptus viscose.
Tencel has the particularity of only using eucalyptus from sustainably managed forests.
The result is a disc that is both soft and supple and generally suitable for all skin types.
How to use a washable make-up remover cotton?
An ecological alternative to classic cotton, washable cotton can be used like cotton, with the only difference that it cannot be thrown away.
First, it is advisable to moisten your reusable disc.
Then you apply your make-up remover, micellar water or toner, like a simple cotton ball, to remove make-up from your face and eyes.
You rinse your cotton and continue your make-up removal.
If you use a lot of make-up and/or waterproof products, it is important to have 2 or 3 cotton pads available before you start removing make-up.
You can, after your make-up remover, put a floral water on the reusable make-up remover cotton to do without it on your face.
Due to their perfect absorption, washable make-up remover cotton pads are compatible with all make-up removers, milk,
micellar water, tonic.
Some very fragile skin can even use them with tap water, without adding a make-up remover.
Of course, reusable cotton pads are not thrown away.
You can machine wash them at low temperature, since when buying them you often find a small bag provided for this purpose to prevent them from getting damaged in the machine.
You can also use your washable cotton pads to remove your nail polish, to disinfect a small wound or even to wash your baby!

How to wash your reusable make-up remover cotton pads?
It is very important to wash your reusable make-up remover cotton pads after each make-up removal.
You can wash them either by hand or in the washing machine.
You then put them in the bag to protect them.
If they are very dirty or with waterproof make-up, it is advisable to carry out a pre-wash.
Otherwise, you put them in the washing machine with your usual detergent and launch a program at 30° or 40° maximum.
You can, of course, wash them with clothes since the small bag protects them.
You also have the choice to wash them by hand, either with Marseille soap or with an ecological recipe that you are used to using.
Then let all your reusable make-up remover cotton pads air dry, as the dryer could damage the fibres.
Finally, once every 6 months,
it is recommended to bleach them in order to offer them a deep wash.
To do this, you have the option of opting for the following recipe or choosing one that you are used to.
For our recipe:
In a large container, fill 1.5 liters of warm water and then pour 2 tablespoons of baking soda.
Mix together.
Add 1 glass of white vinegar.
Let your make-up remover pads soak overnight.
Then machine wash your cotton pads at 40°C and let them air dry.
