According to a spokeswoman, US actress Anne Heche is in a coma after her serious car accident on Friday.

The reported US media unanimously.

Accordingly, Heche has a significant lung injury that requires mechanical ventilation and burns that required surgical intervention.

Her condition remains critical.

According to CNN, the spokeswoman also contradicted previous statements by Heche's podcast partner Heather Duffy Boylston, according to which the 53-year-old is in "stable" condition and no longer in mortal danger.

This information was not accurate, it was said.

In the accident in Los Angeles, Heche drove her car into a house, which caught fire and was badly damaged.

Heche's car also caught fire.

In a video showing scenes from the scene of the accident, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said 59 firefighters were on duty to put out the blaze.

A person who was in the back of the house was therefore unharmed.

Police are investigating suspected intoxication

According to reports, the police are currently investigating driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and hit and run, a police spokeswoman said.

For this purpose, the police obtained a search warrant and a blood sample on the day of the incident.

Heche is the mother of two sons.

Her marriage to cinematographer Coley Laffoon ended in divorce in 2009.

Prior to her marriage, Heche dated talk show host Ellen DeGeneres at times.
