Ashton Kutcher is known to his fans as a cheerful daredevil from comedies and sitcoms like That '70s Show and Two and a Half Men.

He can currently be seen in the film »Vengeance« in German cinemas.

But in the US survival show “Bear Grylls: Stars am Limit – The Challenge”, the 44-year-old now spoke about a serious illness.

The actor said he suffered from an autoimmune disease.

"Two years ago I had this strange and very rare form of vasculitis that has knocked out my vision, hearing and all my balance," said the actor.

It took him a year to recover.

Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood vessels, i.e. the veins and arteries in the body.

It can appear in any part of the body.

Although the disease is potentially life-threatening, in the vast majority of cases it can be controlled with the right treatment.

Vasculitis cannot be cured.

Kutcher wants to face new challenges

"I'm lucky to be alive," Kutcher said on the show, which has a survival expert teaching celebrity guests survival tricks.

But now he is looking ahead.

He is ready to face any new challenge.

The mid-forties has been married to Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis, 38, since 2015.

They kissed for the first time on the set of the hit series »That Seventies Show« – at that time only because it was in the script.

In 2012, the two actors actually became a couple.

"We're where we are today just because of this series," Kucher recently told Variety magazine.

The two are parents to a seven-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son.
