The body of a man was found in the district of Freising in Upper Bavaria on Tuesday evening.

"There is a high probability that it is Tobias D., who has been missing since Friday," the police said.

According to the information, the appearance, as well as the clothing and personal belongings, match the description of the missing person.

The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported on the discovery of the body.

The 25-year-old went to a festival on Lake Eching with two friends last week and has since disappeared.

According to the police, his companions had lost sight of him on Friday evening, and the telephone contact was broken off a little later.

Extensive search measures, including with a rescue helicopter and dog squadron, had remained unsuccessful.

Investigators assume it was an accident

On Tuesday evening, the officials were informed about a lifeless man floating on Lake Eching.

Bathers pulled the body ashore before the rescue workers arrived.

The emergency doctor could only determine the death of the man.

According to initial findings, the investigators are assuming an accident, as a spokesman for the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North told the dpa news agency when asked.

The criminal police in Erding are investigating the exact cause of death.
