Those who are just before their first birth surely know the tension for what is to come.

The labor, the birth itself, the recovery and the initial care of the little baby - so many unknown things are going to happen and for some women the anxiety of them can be paralyzing.

Chen Akerman

, birth mentor and doula, explains about the most prominent fears and the best methods to deal with them, so if you give towards the end of your pregnancy - this is an excellent time to take a deep breath, read and relax:

the fear of the unknown - knowledge is power, and the lack of knowledge feels like the lack of control and power in certain women.

If you feel that you do not know what you are going towards and it causes you anxiety - you are not alone.

Later you can read about ways to deal with this exact feeling.

The fear of the pain - many women are afraid of the pain associated with labor and childbirth and the thought that they will not be able to cope with it.

Some testify that they have a low pain threshold and that they will not be able to tolerate the pain, and of course stories of friends with a negative and painful experience from childbirth do not add up in this case.

The fear that the attendant will not function - there are those who are bothered by the level of functioning of the attendant who will be with them during the birth.

They may feel that he will not know what to do in the moment of truth and will not be able to help them, and they may know that he will not find himself in the situation or will have difficulty being present.

The fear of medical complications - this is a common fear that affects many pregnancies that are about to give birth.

They worry and suffer from disturbing thoughts about the possible risks of childbirth (for them and for the fetus), and this fear is mainly due to over-knowledge and investigation of the subject.

So how can you deal with the fears before giving birth?

practice

The solution to the fears and concerns before the birth is to practice everything you will do during the birth to ease the pain and promote the birth.

As soon as you arrive as prepared as possible, the experience becomes more under your control and you learn how to deal with every obstacle.

There are birth preparation workshops where you delve into the stages of the process and learn how to promote birth in natural ways and also how to enter a state of mind of calmness and peace during it.

Arriving at the birth with knowledge allows you to take responsibility and influence your birth for the better thanks to the security you will receive, and it is very advisable that your companion also take part in this practice.

It is important, among other things, to practice yoga or any other sport during pregnancy, and thus you will reach a physically stronger birth.

Filter information around

Do not listen to birth stories with experiences that were not good and do not seek to read and research about possible complications.

Ask as few questions as possible on Google and forums, especially if you tend to get anxious from too much information.

Not everything written there about another mother will be relevant in one way or another to you as well.

What will you do?

Rather choose to watch positive birth videos or hear about good experiences from other women.

Chen recommends watching even nature videos of animals proving that they don't need anyone else in the moment of truth, when they simply come together with themselves.

Adopt positive language

The way you speak and the words you use have a direct effect on your thinking.

Try not to say "I'm going to the hospital" but "I'm going to the maternity hospital", you're not sick, you're at your best and you'll arrive in the delivery room in due time to create life.

When the pain comes, don't say "it hurts" but "it's getting me closer to meeting my baby".

Another recommendation is to replace the word "axis" with the word "wave".

The structure of a pivot is similar to the structure of a wave, which reaches its peak and then declines, and this is how one should look, think and talk about a pivot.

You will not be in continuous pain throughout the birth, and between peak and peak you will rest and store energy until the moment the baby is released into the air of the world.

The Jama application was established with the aim of responding to mothers of babies between the ages of birth and three, and to gather for them content, activities, tips from experts and videos that will accompany them throughout this challenging period.

All the contents in the application "grow" together with the baby and are precisely adjusted to the stages of his development, so that the mothers receive only what is relevant to them and interests them at any given moment.

The Jama app is the place for mothers in Israel to meet and get to know other mothers around them, and to create new and exciting friendships in the fascinating journey.
