Two start-ups are on the brink of collapse.

The Hamburg delivery service Fresh Post and the Düsseldorf competitor Getfaster.

Many small ones are running out of breath in the highly competitive market with established retail chains.

Hamburg/Düsseldorf - It was not until mid-May that the Hamburg start-up fresh post changed hands and was taken over by the Berlin company Footprint Club.

Now the delivery service for regional products is in insolvency proceedings.

At the end of July, Fresh Post filed an application to open insolvency proceedings.

The seven-year-old company cites a failed deal as the reason.

As the start-up company now announces on its Facebook page, it is confident that "it will soon find a new investor for the pioneer in the food delivery business".

Until then, Fresh Post will continue to operate without restrictions.

The total of 65 employees would also continue to be paid, reports

Businessinsider.de

, citing the Frischpost co-founder Eva Neugebauer.

Wave of bankruptcies: New partner should be found by the end of August

The company, founded in Hamburg, started in 2015 with the vision of connecting regional producers and customers in the city with an innovative online platform and thus strengthening sustainable agriculture.

According to the insolvency administrator Finn Peters, the online farm market could have found a new partner by the end of August.

A nationwide network was originally planned, which should be set up by franchisees, reports

Businessinsider.de

.

But this strategy apparently did not work.

The competition in this highly competitive market is too great.

Supermarkets and discounters now also offer consumers regional products from local production and deliver them to their front door.

Established retail chains such as Rewe and Edeka are heavily involved in this market, as a Munich delivery service check shows.

Wave of bankruptcies: Getfaster from Düsseldorf is also insolvent

There is currently no information as to whether competitive pressure or another reason is responsible for the failure of the Düsseldorf start-up Getfaster.

One thing is certain, this delivery service has also filed for bankruptcy.

As can be seen from the insolvency register, the delivery service filed for insolvency at the beginning of July, according to the

Lebensmittelzeitung

, and appointed Biner Bähr as provisional insolvency administrator.

Getfaster was founded in 2020 as an online delivery service and, according to the company, is active in over 50 cities.

Including Berlin, Düsseldorf, Essen and Remscheid.

The company's promise included delivering milk, meat, fish, bread and fresh fruit and vegetables to drinks to the front door in just 30 minutes for orders of five euros or more.

The concept obviously didn't work out in the end.

As recently as last year, start-ups were still in demand with investors: investors had plenty of capital.

However, the tide turned for the start-up scene at the beginning of this year, as reported by
