The fact that Noa Kirel will represent Israel in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Great Britain is already known to everyone, but today (Wednesday) the singer and the people of the "Kan" broadcasting corporation announced it officially.
At a press conference held this morning at the Carlton Hotel in Tel Aviv (and opened with a power outage - a lucky charm), Kirel told about the moment she was informed about her selection.
"I have to admit I'm very excited," she said.
"I feel that today we are going on a mission together. And what a mission."
The singer also talked about the cheers that accompanied her, and the reactions in the environment - some of whom thought it was not a good idea (mainly in view of the fact that it is a rather political competition, which makes the quality of the song's performance secondary).
"I received support and reinforcements from all over the world, and that only strengthened my decision. What was unclear became clear," she said.
"It's tough. There were those who came and said to me, 'What fun,' but the fact that I'm successful here in Israel does not mean that I automatically win (the competition). There were those who said, 'Don't do it.' Obviously, it's stressful, but I'm used to hearing all kinds of opinions Of all kinds of people. I'm obviously human and I get excited and afraid. Politics is involved in everything like this and it's scary, because there are things that are beyond my control. Of course I can fail, it can happen. But from my first day in the field I've been taking risks in my career.
"I look at the positive sides, put the fear aside and concentrate on the fact that I have the opportunity to represent my country and stand on a big stage...I am very proud to embark on this mission, which for me is a national mission. I am setting out to bring honor to the country and already today I start working very hard".
