Almost 3,000 people in Germany have already been infected with the monkeypox virus.
So far almost all cases involve adult men who have sex with men.
Authorities are now reporting for the first time that a small child has been infected in Baden-Württemberg.
The World Health Organization recently declared the outbreak an "emergency of international concern".
Because the disease is spreading in countries where it has never existed before.
"There is a lot of uncertainty," says Dr.
Sven Schellberg from the Berlin Novopraxis for sexual health.
In the podcast he tells how dangerous an infection can be and what tips he gives his patients - even if some people are reluctant to hear them.
In addition, SPIEGEL science editor Veronika Hackenbroch explains why the number of cases could multiply within a few weeks and why some underestimated the virus.
