(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 10 - The Razoni, the first ship to leave the port of Odessa with a cargo of corn bound for Lebanon on August 1st, docked at the port of Mersin in Turkey.

This was stated by the Ukrainian ambassador to the country Ihor Ostash during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

The five-month delay in delivery "prompted the buyer and shipper to agree to cancel the order," declared the Ukrainian embassy.

The carrier is considering "other purchase requests".

The ship, which is currently located in Mersin, southern Turkey, according to the Marine Traffic website, was inspected by Turkish and Russian experts off Istanbul last week.

On July 22, Russia and Ukraine signed two separate agreements, approved by Turkey and the United Nations, to allow exports of Ukrainian wheat, blocked by the war that began on February 24, and Russian agricultural products, despite Western sanctions.

On Friday, three corn shipments left Ukraine in a convoy bound for Ireland, England and Turkey, according to the Turkish Defense Ministry.

On Monday, a first ship docked at its final destination, Turkey.

A total of eight ships have sailed since the signing of the agreement, according to the Ukrainian authorities, who hope to be able to sail three to five a day within two weeks.
