First he tied the knot, then he killed his newly wedded wife: A 45-year-old man now faces a long sentence for this. The reason he gave was a threat from his wife: she wanted a divorce.

A man in England is said to have murdered his wife just a few hours after their wedding celebration.

He later placed the body in a suitcase in the undergrowth.

This was the conclusion reached by a court jury in Bradford, England.

The sentence is due to be announced on August 19, the British news agency PA reported.

The perpetrator faces a life sentence.

The 45-year-old told police he attacked his 52-year-old wife because she told him she wanted a divorce and falsely accused him of rape, The Sun and Daily Mail reported.

The man, who therefore did not testify at the hearing, admitted to the fatal attack and did not want to cause her serious harm.

The crime took place in October 2021 in the English county of West Yorkshire.

After the marriage, the couple is said to have celebrated in a pub.

According to the public prosecutor, the man is said to have killed his bride that same evening or the next day.

Days later he reported her missing.

In reality, however, he is said to have first stowed the body in a closet in the house they shared, before packing it in a suitcase and dumping it in a nearby field.
