Midfielder Dusan Tadic from Dutch football champions Ajax Amsterdam has apparently been the victim of a robbery.
The Dutch media report.
According to the Telegraaf newspaper, the 33-year-old Serbian international was attacked by two men wearing motorcycle helmets in front of his house two weeks ago.
Tadic apparently injured his hands slightly.
"It seems that they wanted to steal his valuable watch," the newspaper said. "After a brief pursuit, Tadic got involved in a scuffle in which he managed to open the visor of one of the helmets and hit the robber." Then Tadic is said to have called the police in a nearby cafe.
Eindhoven professional was also the victim of a robbery
Tadic is one of the top performers in Amsterdam.
The Serb, who has been playing for Ajax since 2018, is not the first prominent footballer from the Dutch Eredivisie to be the victim of a robbery.
Last year, unknown persons broke into the house of Eran Zahavi (then PSV Eindhoven) twice.
His wife Shai and four small children were present at the first break-in, a brutal robbery.
The mother was gagged and tied up by the burglars, and one child was beaten.
According to media reports, there were two perpetrators.
The Times of Israel reported that they pretended to be employees of a delivery service and pulled a gun when the front door was opened.
After another break-in at his private home in December, Zahavi decided not to return to the Netherlands.
Despite his announcement, he finished the season in Eindhoven and played 25 league games.
In the summer he moved back to his Israeli homeland.
Zahavi now plays for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
