Ikaria is an island of wild and very authentic beauty.

In recent years, more and more tourists are discovering it, but its charm has been preserved, as the island's inhabitants, who rank first in longevity among all European nations, will testify.

In other words: really good here.

The island was named after the myth of the adventurer Icarus, who drowned in the stormy waters of the Aegean Sea.

The secret of the people of Ikaria who live longer (the percentage of residents over 100 years old is relatively higher than anywhere else in the world) lies in good nutrition and physical activity, and above all in the absence of anxiety.

The inhabitants of the island enjoy a peace of mind, which you too can win during a vacation in this paradise on earth.

The idea adopted by the islanders is simplicity in life - this is the universal law of the people of Ikaria.

What does this actually mean?

A relaxed life without alarm clocks, rush and stress, while making sure to eat local, fresh and seasonal food and walks in nature.

Not something you won't get used to easily.

In addition to calmness, the people of Ikaria are known for their celebrations.

The holidays are an integral part of Ikaria's identity - the local calendar is studded with many festivals, and there is even an original Ikarian dance.

The festivities include live music, dancing, lots of Ikrian wine, and also grilled local meat (on the fire) and feasting until dawn.

A truly great Dionysian combination!

The island of Ikaria radiates its own unique energy.

An island holiday is an adventure in itself as it is full of rich vegetation, cascading pools, rivers and waterfalls, lakes and secluded beaches.

Of course, there are also white houses with blue windows and doors.

The island of Ikaria has it all.

You can discover for yourself its uniqueness by walking along ancient paths, which were used in the past to connect neighboring villages, and today are used by residents and tourists alike.

One of the focal points of interest on the island is the Ranti forest located in the central mountainous Ikaria and covering an area of 16 square kilometers. It is one of the last oak forests in the Aegean Sea and one of the oldest in Europe.

This is a great destination for extreme and nature lovers: the huge number of huge granite rocks (boulders) around the island and the 300 climbing routes, as well as the 150 sports climbing routes developed on the island in recent years have made it a popular climbing destination.

Sea lovers will not be disappointed either, as Mesakti beach has ideal weather conditions for windsurfing and is considered a paradise for windsurfers who come from all over Europe.

Abdominal and back lovers will not be left out on the island of Ikaria.

Among the recommended beaches you can find Iero, Kerame, Aris Patmos and the Seychelles beach.

The name of the latter suggests its view, you will win if you make an effort and reach it by a challenging path that includes jumping over boulders.

The effort is totally worth it.

Another hot hit on the island of Ikaria is the island's hot springs and hydrotherapy centers that combine healing and rejuvenation.

Many tourists come to the island to enjoy the beneficial effects of the geothermal springs of Ikaria, which are rich in virtues that help treat many diseases since ancient times.

The archaeological and historical findings found in the excavations on the island prove that already in ancient times the pleasures of the body and soul were enjoyed here thanks to the hot springs.

Among the recommended hot springs on the island we can name Patero, Artemis, Apollon and others, all of which provide a great experience on vacation.

Ikaria is relatively difficult to get to: you can get there by flight from Athens or by boat from Piraeus, Samos and Mykonos.

The island of Ikaria in the Aegean Sea, between Samos and Mykonos, has an audience of admirers and fans who are completely in love with Ikaria and the freedom it radiates.
