The film competes against "Valeria Gets Married" with 14 nominations • It is also evident that the number of women in the industry has increased and this is reflected in the various categories

On Sunday, September 18, in Zappa Midtown Tel Aviv, the closest thing to the Oscar ceremony will be held here, which scatters quite a bit of local stardust: the Ophir Awards ceremony for 2022. Today (Wednesday), the Israel Film and Television Academy announced the final nominations in 18 categories. The ceremony will be broadcast live in Mako and will be broadcast that night at 23:00 Bekeshet, which will return to its air after it was broadcast here in recent years.

In the spirit of the times, the Academy decided to make the ceremony festive, rhythmic and shorter in a new stage format, with the winners going up one by one to receive the awards.

The ceremony will be divided into three main parts, where initially the professional awards will be given, including the award for the screenplay, cinematography, soundtrack, costume design, artistic design, editing and more.

In the middle part, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded to mark an extremely important achievement, and in the last part, the five main awards will be awarded: the directing award, awards for the leading actor and actress and the supporting actors, and the best film award - which will be the entry ticket to the Oscar competition in the foreign film category.

95 films from all genres were submitted to this year's competition, and it is clear that the number of women in the industry has increased and this is reflected in the various categories.

Dana Ivegi will compete against herself in the leading actress category with two nominations for her performance in "Savoy" and "Sabaya Cinema", and if she wins the statuette, she will become the most decorated actress in the history of the ceremony with four awards and will overtake the late Ronit Alkabatz who won three awards. Also Sasson Gabay He is the only actor who will compete for the Ophir Award for the fourth time. If he wins, he will surpass the number of awards of Moshe Ivgi, Assi Dayan and Lior Ashkenazi - who each won three awards.

You can also see that two films are competing "head to head" with 14 nominations and for the best film award: "Valeria Gets Married" and "Karaoke".
