Putin recruited the actor Steven Seagal for propaganda purposes? | Israel today

2022-08-10T07:56:30.474Z

The actor and bodybuilder, who is known to be pro-Russian, was appointed by the Russian president to be a "special envoy" from the people of the country to the United States and to serve as a sort of spokesman, according to reports

There is no doubt that the Russian army would have been happy to use the abilities of an all-powerful Hollywood action star in the war in Ukraine, but this is already really delusional: the former bodybuilder Steven Seagal, who is very friendly with Vladimir Putin and in 2018 was even appointed by him to be "Russia's special envoy to the United States", Films a "documentary" film (or is it propaganda?) about the war in the Donbas region, and also serves as a sort of spokesman for the Russian government.

Yesterday (Tuesday), 70-year-old Siegel was recorded visiting the ruins of a Russian detention facility in the occupied town of Olnivka, where 53 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed at the end of July.

The point is that Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the deadly attack (Russia claims that Ukraine bombed the prison using the HIMARS missile system it received from the US), and now Siegel has been sent to the field to "take a closer look at the situation".

"It definitely looks like damage caused by a missile and not a bomb," Siegel says in a video (dubbed in Russian) published by the Russian news site TVZVEZDA.

The retired action star, who reviewed the "remnants of the American missiles", even made an educated guess that the Ukrainians shelled the prison because Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, wanted to silence a "Nazi" who was detained there and started spilling state secrets.

That Nazi, according to Siegel, "said that Zelensky was responsible for orders that not only contravene the Geneva Convention - they are also crimes against humanity."

It should be noted that already in 2017, Ukraine prevented Siegel from entering the country for five years, so there is definitely bad blood between the parties.

Good luck with the movie, anyway.
