Dangerous bacteria are discovered in a sausage.
The sale must be stopped.
The recall has various consequences for customers.
Kassel – Again and again, contaminated food is offered for sale.
This is not only annoying, but can also be dangerous.
In a current case, the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) warns of harmful bacteria in a Mettwurst - which has already been put into circulation.
The authority reported on Wednesday (August 10) that bacteria of the genus Listeria had been detected in the turkey onion mettwurst made by Aldag.
The product was therefore recalled.
Contaminated sausages were sold in three federal states.
These are Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.
People who bought the affected sausages or even ate some of them should now pay attention to several things.

Sausage recall: what consumers need to know now
In the case of a recall like this, the affected product is initially withdrawn from the market.
However, there is also a need for action for people who have bought something from it.
The sausage can now be returned to the place where it was bought.
The price paid is usually refunded.
Otherwise, recalled food can also be disposed of yourself, the only important thing is that it is no longer consumed.
If it is too late for that, it can be dangerous – especially in this case.

The bacteria whose detection triggered the recall is Listeria.
These usually cause an illness after 14 days, which results in diarrhea and fever.
In severe cases, blood poisoning and meningitis can result.
As the BVL reports, the pathogens can be particularly dangerous for the elderly, people with a weakened immune system and pregnant women.
The latter are advised to seek medical attention if they eat any of the sausage.
Listeria can be dangerous for unborn children even without symptoms.
Other sufferers should only be examined if symptoms persist.
