Tragic end for the beluga lost in the Seine.
The prefect of Calvados announces this Wednesday at the end of the morning that the cetacean of 800 kilos lost in the Seine is dead.
He was euthanized.
He had been taken out during the night from the lock where he was.
“The veterinarians noted a deterioration in his condition and his respiratory activities (…).
The animal was not ventilating enough.
The suffering being obvious for the animal, we decided that it was not relevant to release it and that it was necessary to carry out its euthanasia”, indicated Florence Ollivet-Courtois, veterinarian who supervised the operation.

The cetacean, whose presence in the Seine was exceptional, appeared to be particularly weakened.
The animal had not fed for several days, despite the efforts of veterinarians.
