After racist and right-wing extremist statements in a chat, the Berlin police went to search a former employee.
During other investigations in a messenger service, the state security came across a corresponding post and a photo of a machine gun, the officials said on Thursday.
The author is a 24-year-old who was a member of the Berlin police for two years until June 2020.
The publication in the chat took place after he left the police service.
The machine gun, which is obviously a so-called airsoft weapon, three other alarm pistols and two mobile phones that the man used to post his chat posts have now been found in his apartment.
The items were confiscated and investigations are ongoing.
