Energy prices are rising, which is quickly reflected in the bill.

Thanks to simple tricks, however, the consumption of electricity and water is reduced.

NRW – In view of the rising electricity and natural gas prices, many consumers are probably looking at the forthcoming annual billing of energy costs with concern.

As RUHR24 knows, despite various pitfalls, household consumers can save water and energy thanks to simple tricks - for example when cleaning their own four walls or with personal hygiene.

Water scarcity and rising energy prices are causing problems for consumers

According to the HNA

, warnings of water shortages against the background of past heat waves have been added

to the already worrying news about basic services in Germany .

In southern European countries such as Italy in particular, periods of drought have led to sometimes dramatic scenarios.

In Germany, too, numerous states and municipalities have called on citizens to save water.

According to the

Handelsblatt

, there are also rising electricity prices on the spot market.

Household expert has simple tricks ready for saving energy and water in the household

Those who like to keep their home clean and occasionally swing the cleaning rag should not be discouraged.

Because as Roxanna Pelka, household expert of the online placement marketplace for self-employed cleaners "Helpling", reveals, saving water and energy while cleaning and washing is very easy.

In order to protect the environment and your own wallet, you can, for example, rinse fruit and vegetables in a large bowl of water instead of under the running tap.

Thirsty roommates can benefit from this in the form of plants, which are all too longing for refreshment in oppressively hot room corners or on sunny balconies.

When washing dishes, "Frag-Team-Clean" also recommends not cleaning dirty plates, glasses and cutlery under running water, but in a filled sink.

In order to waste less water during the subsequent rinsing, not too much detergent should be used.

Cleaning, rinsing, washing – consumers can save energy and water everywhere

Many consumers will certainly be aware that you can also save water in the bathroom by turning off the tap when washing your hands or using a cup when brushing your teeth.

The household expert explains that even when lathering up in the shower, turning off the hot water in the meantime can reduce the risk of higher utility bills.

Apart from the fact that consumers can save water consumption in the household in a variety of ways, the power consumption when cleaning also decreases thanks to simple lifehacks.

Not only should consumers switch to LED lamps and avoid putting electrical appliances in standby mode.

If you use a kettle, for example, you should descale it regularly.

Small changes in the kitchen and bathroom contribute to lower consumption

After all, calcified devices consume “significantly more energy”, reveals the household expert.

If you want to get rid of stubborn dust, it is also advisable to do without “unnecessary disposable products such as paper towels, dust wipers and the like” and instead use microfiber cloths.

The expert is certain that this is not only good for your wallet, but also for the environment.

Power consumption can also be reduced when doing laundry, true to the motto: The lower the temperature, the greater the energy savings, explains Roxanna Pelka.

Higher temperatures are only necessary for bed linen, underwear, socks, hand towels and cleaning cloths in order to kill the bacteria.

It often gets particularly expensive when doing laundry and during the cleaning routine

In their opinion, the washing cycle at 30 degrees is usually completely sufficient.

In addition, the washing drum should always be well filled.

"If you can touch the rear drum with your hand, then it is optimally filled and leads to a good washing result," reveals Roxanna Pelka.

In view of the heat waves, consumers could safely do without the dryer.

Allowing laundry to dry in the fresh air can significantly reduce energy costs.

Finally, she recommends dusting radiators regularly so that “the heat energy can be completely released into the room” when it’s cold.

And instead of getting the vacuum cleaner out of the cubbyhole and setting it on the highest level, it is sufficient to choose a lower level for smaller dirt or even use the good old broom.
