(ANSA) - BERLIN, 11 AUG - The relatives of the victims of the terrorist attack of the 1972 Munich Olympics do not want to attend the commemorative ceremony to be held on 5 September in Munich, on the 50th anniversary of the astrage.
The main reason is the unresolved issue of the German government's compensation for the families of the Israeli athletes who were massacred by a commando of the Palestinian terrorist group "Black September".
Ankie Spitzer, spokesperson for the victims' relatives, confirmed this to Spiegel.
In 1972, Israeli athletes died in the onslaught by terrorists and then in a failed attempt by the German police, in which a policeman and five attackers also lost their lives.
