Foot cream in the Öko-Test: Five well-known brands are missteps

Especially in summer, when the bare skin rubs against the sandals, calluses and calluses often form.

Öko-Test tested 24 foot care products.
Most are "very good", but five products, including well-known brands such as Neutrogena and Hansaplast, fail because some of them contain carcinogenic pollutants, reports HEIDELBERG24.
Foot care in the Öko-Test: These were the test criteria
The testers bought 24 foot creams and balms – eight of them in natural cosmetic quality – in drugstores, discounters, (organic) supermarkets and online.
The prices are between 1.25 euros and 19.33 euros per 100 milliliters, but the test shows that you don't have to dig deep into your pocket for well-groomed feet.
The products were tested for harmful substances in the laboratory.
Among other things, the content of PEG, paraffins and silicones was checked.
The products have been specially sent to another laboratory to be tested for carcinogenic mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOAH).
Points were also deducted if the packaging did not contain enough recycled plastic.
Öko-Test discovered a strong allergen in a face cream for men – these products should be avoided.
Foot care in the Öko-Test: Harmful substances in creams cause skin irritation
Three creams contain silicones and paraffins.
The Öko-Test experts did some research and found MOAH in all three.
Carcinogenic compounds can be found among them – so they have no place in cosmetics.
In addition, such artificial fats care less than shea butter or avocado oil.
All products consist of more than half water, which increases the risk of germ formation.
The "L'Occitane Intensive Foot Balm" counteracts this with a preservative that can cause skin irritation.
The "O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet Foot Cream" also contains a similar substance.
In doing so, she contradicts her label of being hypoallergenic, i.e. suitable for allergy sufferers.
At Stiftung Warentest, sunscreens were tested, some of which also contain harmful substances.

The result with the 17 "very good" foot care products is impressive, but you should keep your hands off the "insufficient" and "unsatisfactory" creams and balms.
