The British University of Distance Education launched this evening the work of its access center in the Arabic language as a tributary of virtual education in Syria, in the Free Zone in Damascus.

The Director of the Access Center, Engineer Osama Al-Sayed, confirmed in a statement to the media that the aim of this step is to keep pace with the world, which is moving towards more flexible and less expensive education in light of the high costs of traditional education, indicating that this university is the first European university to open a regular branch for distance education in Syria.

Al-Sayed pointed out that the necessity of virtual education emerged as a result of the conditions that the world experienced during the Corona pandemic and the political conditions witnessed by many countries, as it provides the opportunity for young people to continue their education without the need to travel abroad and save them the costs of doing so.

Al-Sayed pointed out that the university grants academic certificates recognized by the international international accreditation body (ISC), in addition to 158 countries around the world, and its fees are much lower if the student is forced to travel and continue his studies abroad.

Director of Electronic Media in the Ministry of Information and lecturer at the Syrian Virtual University, Dr. Munther Ahmed noted that Syria was a pioneer in introducing virtual education into its educational system and the creation of the virtual university in 2002, based on the importance of virtual education, which has become globally strengthened and developed, and to emphasize that the educational process is a continuous state that must It should be in accordance with correct and sound foundations, especially in light of the great expansion that the world is witnessing and the economic crises that it is experiencing in the current period.

International Relations Consultant at the University Enforcement Center Yara Ali indicated that the university qualifies students and graduates to enter the foreign labor markets in any country. During the coming period via the Internet, which leads to the integration of knowledge between all cultures by gathering students on one educational platform, pointing out that there will be grants for a certain segment of students and many advantages that will be provided later.

From the International Relations Office at the university, Tariq Ibrahim explained that the university has three academic, executive and professional departments, through which it grants degrees for the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, diploma, master’s and doctorate in various and diverse specializations such as media, communication, business administration, economics, art and humanities, which in turn opens many horizons for students to enter the university. The labor market in the field they desire, indicating that the registration details will be announced later.

A member of the teaching staff at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Damascus University, Dr. Ahmed Shaarawy considered that the opening of a branch of the university in Syria is an important step in the field of distance education, which has a firm and solid foundation and is based on sound academic and scientific foundations.
