- This summer, Italian agritourisms are getting their fill thanks to a winning mix: the rediscovery, following the pandemic, of rurality and especially of proximity holidays, together with the strong return of foreigners.
Many structures are already complete, Agriturist, the association that brings together the Confagricoltura agritourism network, points out in a note.
The companies that, in addition to the swimming pool, breakfast and restaurants organize activities, such as trekking, horseback riding, cycle bikes or food and wine experiences, such as cooking lessons and tastings, are rewarded.
"The Italians - says Augusto Congionti, Agriturist president - have not given up on holidays and, paying close attention to their wallet, have chosen contact with nature and the beauty of the countryside. According to Enit, one in five Italians opted for outdoor holiday. Also thanks to the air strikes, foreigners have chosen the car to get around. So in addition to discovering during the journey what, wrongly, is called the minor Italy, the appreciation for rural Italy has grown, so much so that 10% of the agritourisms are already starting to have reservations for the summer of 2023 ".
For Agriturist the trend of last year is absolutely confirmed and is even destined to grow, towards finally stable revenues, if not growing, compared to the previous year (in 2021 on average + 30%).
It is also destined to further increase, in percentage terms, the market share of the entire tourism sector both in terms of guests and overnight stays (last year it was + 1% and + 1.2% respectively).
Finally, foreign tourists are expected to grow by an average of 15% compared to last year, with peaks of up to 35% thanks to the return of Americans and the massive arrival of tourists from beyond the Alps, from Benelux and Northern Europe.
