(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 11 - A sold out mid-August.
The results for the summer of 2019 should also be pale. Provided that the weather does not spoil the party.
It emerges from a survey conducted by CNA Tourism and Commerce focused on the period 12-21 August that ANSA publishes in preview, according to which over 10 million tourists will stay overnight in traditional and non-traditional accommodation facilities.
To go up to 15 million and more by adding to the calculation the Italians who will go to second homes.
Among those who will spend the night in accommodation facilities, the Italians should be 5.5 million, 4.5 million foreigners.
Total expenditure, direct and indirect, should reach 3.5 billion.
According to Cna, Italians are mainly oriented towards the sea,
mountains and spas and foreigners (especially non-Europeans) are attracted to cities and villages of art.
To integrate these choices the experiential activities and the search (not only by foreigners) of their family roots, the so-called "ancestral tourism".
The average overnight stay for Italians will stop at three nights, while the overnight stay for foreign tourists will be four nights.
Two thirds of tourists will opt for hotels and a third for the increasingly widespread non-hotel facilities: favorite B & Bs by the sea and cities and art villages, agritourisms and campsites for those who prefer the outdoors.
The return of foreign tourists to Italy, according to the survey, is driven, as far as Europe is concerned, first of all by holidaymakers from Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
L'
The weak euro is also attracting many non-European tourists to Italy: travelers departing from the United States of America seem set to overcome any previous result.
