The exhibitions of August, from the Riace Bronzes to Banksy and Galliani

REGGIO CALABRIA - The Riace Bronzes immortalized by Luigi Spina and the mysterious Banksy, alongside Omar Galliani, Piero Marussig and some of the leading contemporary sculptors: they are the protagonists of this week's exhibitions.


    REGGIO CALABRIA - "The Riace Bronzes" is the title of the exhibition scheduled from 10 August to 23 October at the National Archaeological Museum and organized as part of the program to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the discovery, which took place on 16 August 1972. A selection of 16 shots signed by photographer Luigi Spina: the sequence of 8 plus 8 photographs, all of large format, dedicated respectively to statue A and statue B, highlights a slow movement which, albeit incessant, creates pauses and rhythm.


    SORDEVOLO (BI) - At Villa Cernigliaro from 13 August to 10 September the sculpture exhibition "Nuove Radici 2.0", curated by Dina Pierallini and Valentina Redditi: 14 sculptors protagonists, some of international caliber, who with different materials (marble, plaster, steel, bronze, wood) and different poetics, all address the theme of the figure in the contemporary world, without forgetting the links with tradition.


    ROME - "The World of Banksy - The Immersive Experience" continues at Tiburtina Station in Rome, until November 27: over 100 works, murals and objects by the British artist (and a virtual section) retrace his entire production, from the paintings of very early stage of his career up to the last few years, from the works made with the hand graffiti technique to those made with the stencil.


    CITTA 'DI CASTELLO (PG) - From 12 August to 12 October, as part of the 55th Festival of Nations in Città di Castello, the exhibition by Omar Galliani "… What does García Lorca see?" , with works dedicated to the great Andalusian poet.

Along the way, a dozen works made in black pencil and pastel on wood, together with a work on gold leaf and some pencils and inks on paper.

These are works of various sizes and all made in the 2000s.


    TRIESTE - With some undisputed masterpieces from the Civic Museum Revoltella and from private collections, the exhibition "Piero Marussig. Room with a view of Trieste" pays homage to one of the main painters of the twentieth century.

Set up until 9 October at the Civic Museum Sartorio, the exhibition presents the salient moments of Marussig's work, that is, those lived in Trieste and Milan.


    TURIN - It will close on 2 October in Camera Centro Italiano per la Fotografia "We are the revolution. Art in Italy 1967-1977", curated by Ludovico Pratesi, organized by Istituto Luce.

At the center of the exhibition the evolution of art in Italy from 1967 to 1977, through a rich photographic documentation (150 images) made by photographers of the caliber of Claudio Abate, Mimmo Jodice, Paolo Pellion, Paolo Mussat Sartor who documented exhibitions, performances, debates and actions.


    PAVULLO NEL FRIGNANO (MO) - There are 3 contemporary artists, Maurizio L'Altrella, Simone Fazio and Tommaso Giusti, protagonists of "Ecce Homo. The painting of the depth", until 15 August at the Contemporary Art Gallery of Palazzo Ducale in Pavullo nel Frignano.

Curated by Alessandro Mescoli and Simona Negrini, the exhibition addresses the themes of the sacred and the profane, the anxieties and obsessions of the human soul through about forty oil paintings by three artists of different style and generation.


    AOSTA - Fools, monsters, storytellers, fishermen, girls and monkeys, drunken satyrs, strange anthropomorphic animals or even extravagant creatures and freak phenomena populate the exhibition "Angels and Demons", with works by the Armenian artist Arshak Sarkissian.

At the Saint Bénin Center until 6 November, and curated by Dominique Lora, in collaboration with Daria Jorioz, the exhibition presents works in painting, alongside drawings and engravings and the installation Imaginary Souls.
