"Explosive" presenter Mareile Höppner, 45, is moving from ARD to RTL.
The journalist will present the magazine "Extra" at the Cologne station in the future, as her new employer announced on Thursday in Cologne.
She will also represent Dieter Könnes and Steffen Hallaschka on "stern TV" and "stern TV am Sonntag".
“I'm looking forward to coming 'home'.
And that's RTL for me, "Höppner is quoted as saying.
»I started at RTL back then and learned to get enthusiastic about the job.
People and their stories – that has always been my drive and my passion.«
Mareile Höppner began her journalistic career on radio, later she switched to RTL Nord in Kiel as a reporter.
After two years as a weather presenter, she took over as the main presenter on »Guten Abend RTL« in 2002.
From 2009 to 2012, Mareile Höppner hosted the MDR talk show »Riverboat«.
Since 2008 she has presented the tabloid magazine "Brisant" broadcast on the MDR.
MDR program director Klaus Brink Bäumer thanked the outgoing moderator: "The program 'Brisant' was enriched by Mareile Höppner's excellent moderation," says a statement from the ARD station.
The team on the show appreciates Mareile Höppner as a colleague and regrets her departure, says Brink Bäumer.
At the same time, the broadcaster also presented a new face for the infotainment magazine: Marwa Eldessouky will be the new "Brisant" presenter from December 1st.
The 39-year-old Berliner with Egyptian roots has moderated various public service formats since 2010, for example for the RBB youth wave Fritz or the WDR radio station Cosmo.
MDR editor-in-chief Julia Krittian emphasized "Eldessouky's outgoing curiosity, her charisma and cheerfulness".
Eldessouky rejoiced that she was now changing »from viewer to presenter«.
