Shai and Galia Matiovich got married 11 years ago today • "Never deny partners in the workplace" • "An 'innocent' fisherman took an engagement ring out of the water and handed it to me"

A wedding anniversary at Tu Bab is a unique and romantic event.

Shai and Galia Matiovich, two healing technicians in the radiotherapy department at Hadassah Ein Kerem, celebrate 11 years of marriage today (Friday), which began thanks to working at the hospital.

"It all started 23 years ago, in the X-ray studies class at Hadassah Mount Scopus," says Shay.

"Galia thought I was cute but too quiet, and I admired her writing skills when she wrote down everything that was said in class. We studied together for three years at Bar Ilan and Hadassah and the whole relationship between us came down to me taking pictures of all the summaries that Galia worked on during classes."

"Hard to get"

"When we finished studying," Shay adds, "we started working together in the radiotherapy department at Hadassah. That's how eight years of good friendship passed, during which I would share with Galia all my failed dates. Galia, for her part, told me about all the delusional dates she met. Until one day, I mustered up the courage And I said to Galia: 'We've both been on so many bad dates, maybe it's time for us to try each other?'

Of course Galia initially played her hard to get and refused, but within three months in the port of Jaffa, an "innocent fisherman" and well-timed fish of an engagement ring out of the water, handed her over to me and I hurried to ask for Galia's hand."

Shay noted that "Today, on Valentine's Day, we are celebrating 11 years of marriage, during which we had Abigail, Yaara and Ido, and they were all born here, in Hadassah, it is quite necessary.

"Love is waiting for you"

Galia explained that "it's great fun to be together at home and at work, there is a full understanding of what everyone goes through in their working day".

Galia added with a smile that "Working with your partner in the same workplace is not as you imagine, the whole shift we sit cross-legged on a date and drink coffee. This is completely far from reality. When we both work, we are all about work matters and less about home matters. Patients and colleagues are surprised to find out that we are a couple And we're always complimented that we're a couple from heaven and we've won each other. So to all the singles and all those who are waiting for love, never rule out partners in the workplace. Who knows, maybe a wonderful and true love will grow out of it. Give love a chance, it's very close and waiting for you."
