Fight the flames again and again.

Throughout France, firefighters are mobilized on fires that have so far ravaged 50,000 ha and forced thousands of people to leave their homes.

It is not only in Gironde that the situation is worrying, Le Parisien takes stock of the various fires in progress in the country.

A fire starts in the forest of Brocéliande

Brittany is once again in the grip of the flames.

180 hectares have already burned in Morbihan after a fire broke out overnight from Thursday to Friday, around 1 a.m., near Campénéac, in the Brocéliande forest.

Housing has been evacuated according to Le Télégramme, but no dwelling has yet been destroyed although some are threatened.

The Telegram reports that around 150 firefighters are mobilized to try to control the flames and reinforcements have yet to arrive.

According to the newspaper, air assets are expected on site in the morning.

“No significant progress” overnight in Gironde

The fire raging in Gironde and in the Landes did not experience "significant progression" overnight, the prefecture announced on Friday.

7400 ha of surfaces have been burned since Tuesday, and no other additional evacuation has been ordered, "we are still at 10,000 people evacuated", announced from Hostens (Gironde) the sub-prefect of Arcachon Ronan Léaustic during a press briefing, being cautious.

The perimeter of the “still active” fire which extends over 40 km “has not changed but the weather conditions encourage us to be extremely vigilant”, he warned.

"The day is likely to be complicated as the temperatures continue to rise, and the hydrometry continues to drop," he added.

On the ground, 361 firefighters from several European countries are beginning to arrive to lend a hand to the 1,100 firefighters already deployed.

Among these reinforcements, 65 German firefighters and 24 vehicles arrived in the area on Thursday evening, and others are on their way from Romania, Poland and Austria.

Jura: one of the fires slowed down, 600 ha destroyed

Two forest fires have devoured around 660 ha since Tuesday in the south of the Jura, where the progression of one of the fires could be “slowed down” while the other is “fixed”, announced Thursday evening the prefecture.

“At the end of the afternoon, the spread of the fire in the sector of the municipalities of Vescles and Cernon was slowed down thanks to the mobilization of firefighters and farmers” who lent them a hand, indicates t she in a statement.

“At 10:30 p.m., it is estimated that nearly 500 ha” had been burned, added the prefecture, which reported in a previous press release that 300 ha had been ravaged for this fire alone.

“The entire town of Cernon”, where a power outage “related to the fire” affects 173 households, was evacuated preventively and around “250 people were sheltered, with a reception proposal” on the nautical base of the neighboring town of Bellecin, according to the same source.

During the afternoon, "air resources" made it possible to "slow down the spread": two water bomber helicopters thus carried out 110 drops, "allowing to cut off the advance of the fire and significantly reducing the volumes of smoke" .

The other fire, located about twenty kilometers to the south-west, in the Cornod and Vosbles-Valfin sector, is now fixed, after having reduced 160 ha to ashes.

A total of 153 firefighters are mobilized, from the Jura and reinforced by elements from Ain, Côte d'Or, Doubs, Haut-Rhin, Moselle, Saône-et-Loire and Yonne.

Aveyron: the fire fixed, most evacuations lifted

The fire that broke out on Monday in the villages of Rivière-sur-Tarn and Mostuéjouls, in Aveyron, is now fixed, allowing most of the evacuees to return home on Friday, the prefecture said Thursday evening.

“Thanks to the effectiveness of the actions carried out tirelessly since Monday evening by the firefighters, the fire was set at 9:40 p.m. over the entire area”, wrote the prefecture of Aveyron in a press release.

Most of the evacuated housing can be reinvested from Friday, specifies the prefecture, with the exception of four localities in the municipality of Mostuéjouls.

Thursday evening, according to the firefighters, more than 750 ha of vegetation, in particular coniferous forests, had been traversed by the flames, often in areas difficult to access between the Causse de Sauveterre and the Tarn gorges.

500 people had to be evacuated as a precaution from their homes and several campsites in the area on Wednesday evening.

Already overnight from Monday to Tuesday, 3,000 people had been evacuated.

The fire caused no injuries.

On Wednesday, a man residing in the department of Lozère was indicted for "involuntary destruction by fire".

He is believed to have accidentally started the fire, when a metal part of his trailer caused sparks as it scraped the ground, setting fire to the vegetation on the side of the road.

Drôme: the fire continues

The forest and vegetation fire that broke out on Friday August 5 in the Diois massif in Romeyer is still not fixed.

According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, the flames had ravaged 300 ha of vegetation on Thursday morning.

In total, 200 firefighters and 30 machines are mobilized, according to our colleagues.

This forest fire was caused by a lightning strike on trees.

The fire is set in the Vosges

In the department, the fire which burned 30 ha of forest between the municipalities of Mortagne and Brouvelieures, is now fixed, said Thursday the prefecture of the department.

In the evening, she announced in a press release her decision "to ban the use of fireworks throughout the department for a period of 15 days", as well as the sale of firecrackers.

In Maine-et-Loire, vigilance maintained

The two main fires in Maine-et-Loire, which have ravaged more than 1,500 ha mainly in the forests since Monday, are now fixed, the department's firefighters announced on Thursday.

The fire located around Baugé-sur-Anjou, which ravaged the Pugle forest, “has been fixed since 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, with 1,400 ha burned.

We are still defending sensitive points on 22 sites because they are located in the burned areas.

We have many covers, some of which are not natural, ”regrets the Codis to AFP.
