Olivia Newton John will have a state funeral in Australia.
This was confirmed by the premier of the state of Victoria, Dan Andrews.
In a post on Twitter Andrews wrote that the family of the actress and singer who died on August 8 at the age of 73 from cancer accepted the offer from Australia.
"It will be more of a concert than a funeral you read in the post - at the height of a Victorian who has lived such an intense and generous life".
Details of the ceremony have not yet been disclosed.
Newton-John was born in the UK but moved to Australia at the age of five and quickly became one of the country's most loved celebrities.
Meanwhile, her husband John Easterling paid tribute to her on Instagram with a moving post.
Easterling defined their marriage (the couple married in 2008) and their life together as a 'love that transcends understanding'.
He further added that her wife was like a medicine that used the medium of song, of words, of touch.
"She was the bravest woman I have ever known - he says - her ability to sincerely take care of people, nature and all creatures almost eclipses what is humanly possible. It is only by the grace of God that I was granted to share the passion and depth of his being for so long ".
