Ryanair abolishes cheap tickets - the time of 10-euro flights is over

Ryanair is considered the most reliable airline in the world.

But the oil prices are causing problems for the airline.

Cheap tickets will soon no longer be available.

London – The era of the 10-euro ticket is over, says CEO Michael O'Leary on the British radio station BBC 4. The boss of the airline Ryanair sees no more leeway for such cheap fares in the next few years.

Average ticket prices on Ryanair would increase from €40 last year to €50 over the next five years.

The increase in fuel costs, which drives up air fares, also increases household energy bills and reduces people's disposable income.

Nevertheless, the airline boss expects that many travelers will be looking for cheap flights.

As a further price driver in addition to the high energy prices, the manager names general inflation, which led to labor disputes and high wage demands.

The Ryanair boss attributes the fact that the airline has had to cancel few flights so far to hiring and training new staff in the autumn.

Between January 1 and July 10 this year, the low-cost airline canceled only 0.3 percent of scheduled flights and is considered the most reliable airline in the world.

Leaving the EU turned out to be a "disaster" for the free movement of workers.

It is time to think about partially undoing the "stupidity of Brexit" and bringing the UK closer to the EU again through a new free trade agreement, according to the Ryanair boss.
