“I told myself that it couldn't be true, that I was going to wake up”.
François, a resident of Rueil-Malmaison (92), is swimming in the middle of a nightmare.
On August 4, while he was walking his dog, Eika, like every evening, the fifty-something will helplessly witness the electrocution of his animal and his agony in the middle of the street.
In question: a defective floor spot, on which his dog put a paw.
Moments earlier, the rain had hit the city.
"All his limbs were agitated, everything was moving in all directions," says François, his throat knotted.
Alerted by Eika's screams and the master's cries of panic, the customers of the restaurant next door come running.
In wanting to help his animal, François does not yet realize what is happening and receives a violent electric charge.
Twice.
He decides to move his dog and discovers under her body, a floor spot, whose glass is filled with condensation.
"As there was no light, it was not easy to realize right away", continues François.
He adds, sobs in his voice: “But it was too late”.
Complaint against the town hall
Ten days after the death of his dog, François' sadness is immense.
But today, anger took over.
“I don't understand how you can let equipment deteriorate like this.
It could have happened to another person or even to a child, ”launches the Ruellois, who announces that he wants to file a complaint against the town hall.
For its part, the municipality explains that it did everything possible after the accident.
“The same evening, the municipal police alerted Eiffage, our service provider in charge of the management and maintenance of the public lighting network, who came to disconnect the spotlight from the electrical supply.
Obviously it was not unsealed, and its window was not cracked.
The mayor sent a letter to the director of Eiffage.
An independent office will intervene for a diagnosis and to understand the causes of this accident”.
Asked by the Parisian, the Eiffage company claims to want to understand the causes of Eika's death.
"The investigations are still in progress to determine the causes of this incident, we are not able to provide you with information at the present time", they replied to us this Thursday, August 11.
