With the support of the Bundeswehr and the Robert Koch Institute, the police searched an apartment in the Berlin district of Grunewald on Friday evening - on suspicion of explosives.
According to initial investigations, the search for explosives did not result in anything, the police later said.
The rapid tests to analyze explosives that were carried out on site were negative, a police spokesman said early Saturday morning.
The searched apartment in the house will remain closed until the samples are analyzed in the next few days.
The other residents of the house could return to their apartments, it said.
Become aware of a possible dangerous situation
According to the police spokesman, the operation was carried out "due to suspicions that a resident was endangered".
There was a suspicion that third parties could have deposited explosives in the apartment of the person concerned.
They searched for explosive and biological substances.
According to the information, the police had become aware of a possible dangerous situation during investigations.
Residents had to leave the house.
Defusers from the police were in the apartment together with employees from the Robert Koch Institute and forensic technology.
The fire department was also involved in the operation.
