Five facts about cheese ("must not miss" system)

Like many products, the prices of cheeses have been rising recently, and people are starting to think about how to keep the cheese fresh for a long time.

Except in the case where you buy blue cheese, you don't want mold on the cheese - so how can you keep it to last?

After all, it is known that the dates stamped on the cheese packages are not always accurate, and we throw quite a few good edible cheeses in the trash - for no reason.

Some cheeses can even be stored for up to eight months - so how do you do it?

Sarah Taylor, a food hygiene expert at the educational site High Speed Training, recently revealed in a conversation with the Daily Mirror the best ways to store cheese to ensure the highest quality and the possibility of using it for a long time.

Sara explains that hard cheeses that come straight from dairies come in wheels, and are stored so that they get their flavor, but once the wheels are cut, the cheese does not develop in the same way, so it must be stored correctly, so that it does not lose its flavor.

"Each cheese is unique, and each of them has different storage requirements. Hard cheeses like Parmesan have a low moisture level, and since bacteria need moisture in food to survive, cheeses with a low moisture level tend to last longer," she explained.

This means that hard cheeses must be wrapped in cling film, not the paper they come with from the store or baking paper, since the paper does not allow air to enter, and the cheese will become dry.

"Soft cheeses (such as mozzarella, feta, gorgonzola, Camembert and cream cheeses) have a high level of moisture, and they need to breathe. If you prevent them from breathing, then they are filled with ammonia gas that loses the flavor and destroys the cheese you have carefully chosen. Therefore, do not wrap them in plastic wrap The correct way to store soft cheeses is in wax paper for cheese or in baking paper."

Sarah recommends putting the cheeses in an airtight container to prevent the smell from escaping - because no one likes a smelly fridge.

If your cheddar cheese is moldy, Sarah suggests you don't try to save it.

Mold in some of the cheeses is intentional, while in other cheeses it does not "encourage good taste", and it can also cause diseases.

She recommends consuming the cheese before the last recommended date, and if you can't - you can also freeze cheeses, although freezing will damage the taste and texture.

"Cheeses with a high level of moisture, for example, such as Brie and Camembert, may be destroyed when they become ice, and low temperatures may also suck the moisture out of them and make them very dry. It is not recommended to freeze any type of cheese, but if you want to freeze cheddar and then grate it As an addition to the recipe, it's fine. If you still decide to freeze cheese, wrap it in storage or baking paper and put it in an airtight box and use it within six months."
