At noon this Saturday, more than 900 km of traffic jams had accumulated throughout France.
According to Bison Futé, it is in the Pyrénées-Orientales (on the A9), in the Hérault (on the A75), in the Drôme (on the A7) that traffic jams are most numerous in mid- daytime.
On the Ile-de-France side, the situation is particularly difficult near the Saint-Arnoult toll, on the A10, “towards the province”, specifies the direction of the roads of France.
“In this context of heavy traffic, motorists are advised to avoid driving on Saturday and to postpone their journey to Sunday,” recommended the public service.
Traffic will be less dense for the rest of the weekend, with a "green" Sunday in both directions, except in the southeastern quarter of the country.
Bison smart had classified this Saturday, the first day of the Assumption weekend, in red, regardless of the direction of travel.
Classified black in the Mediterranean Arc
At the end of the week, “we are expecting (…) many trips to take advantage of a long weekend”, had indicated the public road information service.
The northern part of the western Mediterranean has even been placed in black in the direction of departures.
“Very difficult” traffic is also planned in Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes.
In the direction of returns, the affluence is classified red for the whole territory.
Bison futé's traffic forecast predicts that the most congested axes will be the A7, A8 and A9 motorways.
