(ANSA) - CAIRO, AUGUST 14 - Forty-one people were killed in the fire of a Coptic church in Cairo.
The fire, caused by the electrical failure of an air conditioner that would have caused an explosion during Sunday mass, according to the Egyptian Interior Ministry, broke out in the church of AbuSifine in Imbaba, in the governorate of Giza.
The Minister of Health and Population, Khaled AbdelGhaffar, has ordered to provide all health services and lecure to the injured in the fire.
According to the spokesman for the ministry, 55 were injured and were transported to the hospitals in Imbaba and Al Agouza.
The state of alert was declared in hospitals in Cairo and Giza.
The Egyptian Attorney General, Hamada Al-Sawi, has set up a team of inspectors to investigate the fire.
