Cologne: stuck with a backpack – tram drags 55

A pedestrian was dragged along by a tram in the Sülz district of Cologne late on Saturday evening and suffered life-threatening injuries.

According to initial findings, the 55-year-old got stuck on the train with his backpack and was then dragged a few meters by the tram, the police said on Sunday.

According to an initial evaluation of the traces of the accident, the man was walking on the tracks between the Weißhausstraße and Eifelwall stops around 11:15 p.m.

Despite the emergency braking of the passing train, the passer-by got stuck with his backpack on the front wagon.

According to the police, rescue workers freed the man who was trapped with his backpack and took him to a hospital.

The 39-year-old tram driver suffered a shock.
