Zvika Pick, one of Israel's most popular singers and author of many hits that earned him the nickname "
king
" or "
pillar
" of Israeli pop, died Sunday at age 72.
"
Zvika Pick passed away today but his songs and melodies will continue to be played for years
," Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said after the artist was found dead at his home in Ramat Hasharon (center). according to the local press.

Born in Poland in 1949, Zvika Pick immigrated to Israel as a child with his parents, before playing in the Israeli version of the musical 'Hair' and signing hits of local pop, such as the song 'Marilou' still hummed by generations of Israelis.
He also signed the music for the song 'Diva' performed by Israeli transsexual singer Dana International which won Eurovision in 1998.

," said Israeli Culture Minister Chili Tropper, hailing "
one of Israel's greatest artists

Zvika Pick was also the stepfather of Quentin Tarantino because his daughter, the Israeli singer Daniella Pick, is married to the famous American director.
