One of the biggest saving graces of the King of Pop was the famous musical • Michal Amdorski, Shira Moreno and Yael Bar Zohar tell about working with the cultural Oshia and how they had a father figure • "Not everyone knows this, but he had a great sense of humor:

The world of Israeli culture was stunned today (Sunday) by the surprising death of Zvika Pick, one of the greatest musicians active in the country.

One of his greatest successes was in the musical "Mary-Lou", which appeared over the years in several versions

.

Due to his death, we asked the actresses who played the main role to write a few words about who Zvika Pick was for them: the musical legend, the co-worker, and especially who became a real friend.

Michal Amdorski: "a musical genius, a great composer and a trailblazer"

The friendship between me and Zvika started during the "Mary-Lou" period.

I think it was one of the best and fun times of my life.

His songs, working with him and of course with Amir Fay Gutman.

Never in my dreams would I have imagined that 20 years later, and both of them would not be with me and all of us.

Since the brain event he went through, a distance has been created between us that happened on his initiative.

I knew he needed his time, that he was adjusting to a new life, but I kept getting the feeling that he was getting better.

I was told he was on the way to the king and I believed it.

I always had hope in my heart that one day the phone would ring, he would be on the other end of the line and he would invite me to perform together.

Zvika was not a simple person, but we had an excellent connection.

In our professional relationship the division was clear - he asked to do and I did.

He was very stubborn and I was his yes-man, and in the result test it worked well.

Tzvika was a musical genius, a great composer and a trailblazer.

He has songs that are timeless, the kind you can only create when God touches you.

It's a loss for me, it's a loss for Israeli music and it's a loss for all of us.

Shir Moreno: "Simplicity and sensitivity in the guise of nonchalant"

"There was only a dim ember left of the old-fashioned summer love..." My mother really liked the songs of Zvika Pick, but later she didn't get to see me perform in the musical based on his best songs, that is "Mary-Lou".

Zvika Pick, the man and the legend, came to be with us at almost every rehearsal.

He gave tips, sang with us - and if there was a piano, he also sat down to play.

I didn't come from a singing background.

For me, the admission to the musical was a dream that I never allowed myself to dream about and with it also the great challenge of becoming in a short time the best singer, the best dancer and so on.

Tremendous excitements and pressures, high expectations of myself to be worthy of the position.

At every rehearsal, Tzvika was always kind and nice.

I was so excited and stressed by the very status, but he always made sure to give a good and pleasant feeling.

"Sing", he would say to me, "you sing very beautifully, you have it, sing with confidence, don't be afraid, don't be afraid, just confidence".

You might think it was easy.

He would ask the band manager to adjust himself to me, my tones and abilities.

He was always alert and precise, the simplicity and sensitivity under the guise of nonchalant surprised me every time.

He always praised, always said a kind word and maybe not everyone knows it, but the maestro had a great sense of humor.

He loved to laugh effortlessly.

Every night when we performed, he would come to watch, night after night, and at the end he would go up on stage with us hand in hand in the experience.

It was a terribly exciting class.

One day he called me.

"Shiri, I'm performing in Kiryat on Friday, I want you to come rehearse and sing with me," he said.

I was scared and stressed.

The singing did not flow easily to me yet, in addition to the excitement for me it was a challenging and not an easy task.

Since then, he has called every day of the week and I have tried to put him off and cancel.

I was so afraid of messing up and embarrassing both of us.

Friday morning I called him and told him that I was hoarse, that my voice was tired, that I wasn't feeling so well and that I didn't think I would be able to perform that evening.

With his wonderful sharpness he felt the sensation, and said to me: "Breathe, drink a lot of water and rest, everything will be fine by the evening, it's small on you."

In fact, he left me no choice, and rightly so.

I had so much fun!

With such ease, he gave me the feeling that he believes in me, neither judges nor criticizes, that he trusts me that I am good and capable and that it will be good because everything is good, and so it was.

It was an amazing experience for me, which I will probably never forget.

Above all, I will not forget the man and legend, tall and impressive, who always treated everyone.

How he dressed night after night in black and glitter, watched us and came up at the end of every night to experience himself, with pride and pure pleasure.

The phenomenal man, with many skills and abilities, that there is no house in Israel that does not know him and his songs and melodies.

This special and intriguing man finished his journey, leaving his mark on every person and house in the country.

His songs will forever be part of the soundtrack of my life.

Yael Bar Zohar: "Your match between me and Guy through the words and melodies"

My beloved Zvika, you called me "my Mary-Lou" and I am forever grateful to you for all the opportunities you gave me.

You are intertwined in my life in endless ways and exciting songs.

Hugs to the family and all your loved ones.

Forever you will remain for me the undisputed maestro and I am your "Mary-Lou".

The last few years have been complex for you... you were no longer as independent and strong as you liked to be and yet... you fought, you planned, you dreamed.

I just watched the article about the play you created "Mary-Lou" and I crashed.

wow

What a gift you gave me.

What a wonderful and special exciting path we went through together.

It started with a song you wrote for me for Festigal at the age of 15, after I called you in fear and awe when we didn't know each other and asked if you could compose a song for me.

And you - a hard-working person like no other, a super-producer and a musician with honest grace, you said sure!

The next day I was already at your house in front of the grand piano in the living room with printed lyrics by Mirit Shem-Or, who was also your wife - and together you left a treasure of classics, works that will remain forever in the Israeli music soundtrack - and of course your song won me first place.

how not.

Your talent for composing Hebrew words was unique and you have no other Zvika.

But our truly significant meeting was at the auditions for the musical "Mary-Lou" at the Bhima Theater, which was based on your hits.

Many singers and actresses wanted this role and I remember my audition like it was yesterday... I was 21 years old. I entered the audition hall and in front of a long table of managers and creators, the late Yaakov Agmon, the director, the choreographer, the voice development teacher, and you Zvika.

I worked hard to get through all the stages of the auditions and at the end you came up to me and said you chose me from the very first moment.

You were present during the entire rehearsal process and also at all the performances you attended.

It was important to you that it succeed.

In quiet, almost whispering comments, you managed to maintain your perfectionism.

At the end of each performance, you came up to bow with us and always like at the magic headquarters, the whole audience, night after night, in the Robina Hall in Bhima and everywhere we performed, stood cheering and applauding you and you were happy.

We were happy.

And most of all, thanks to you, I got to know Guy (Zo-Eretz) who joined our cast after the bicentennial play and as the lyrics of the song "They were the young lovers in the most beautiful moments of life" a few years later he became my husband and the father of my children.

We were also privileged to have you as a guest of honor at our wedding.

You would be happy for us and satisfied with the match made through your words and melodies.

Your songs will forever be engraved in our lives and souls.

Zvika, later on we performed together in many festivals.

We traveled in a shared shuttle to concerts throughout the country and had a lot of time of laughter and appreciation and mutual love!

When I heard that after the stroke you are fighting for the ability to walk, talk and write again - I was not surprised.

The immensity of your mind and willpower - the hunger for action and success is a model to learn from.

I came with our children, to see you appear again on the festival stage.

The last time we met was 3 months ago at a tribute evening in your honor.

I was asked to tell about the success of "Mary-Lou" and the relationship between us.

It was important for me to tell you there that I love you.

I came to give you a hug and we said we must meet.

What we didn't have enough was the last hug.

I believe that even above you will compose magical melodies as only you, the undisputed maestro, can.

We will never say goodbye to you - we will continue to sing your songs that you left us forever.

Thanks for everything, love, your "Mary-Lou", Yael.
