(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 15 - Russia and North Korea will strengthen bilateral relations: the state news agency of Pyongyang, the KCNA, reported today, citing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Guardian reports it.


    According to the agency Putin sent a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on the day of the liberation of North Korea stating that the two countries "will expand global and constructive lateral relations through joint efforts".


   In the letter, the Russian leader explained that closer ties would be in the interest of both countries and would help strengthen the security and stability of the Korean peninsula and the Northeast Asian region.
