Pyrénées-Orientales: a fire has already burned 105 hectares, more than 180 firefighters mobilized


The fire broke out overnight from Sunday to Monday in the Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes forest. Reinforcements are expected during the day.

It is a new fire that has mobilized the firefighters of the Pyrénées-Orientales for long hours.

The fire started around 3 a.m. in the night from Sunday to Monday at the level of the national forest of Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes, according to L'Indépendant.

The front of the fire reaches 500 m according to France Bleu radio, which evokes particularly favorable conditions for fire since there are gusts of wind of up to 50 km / h.

The radio indicates that 105 ha have already been destroyed by the flames around 8 am Monday morning, against 60 ha an hour earlier.

According to France Bleu, the fire is heading towards a wind farm located in the area.

Significant reinforcements expected

More than 180 firefighters from the Pyrénées-Orientales are currently mobilized to fight the flames and reinforcements are expected in the coming hours.

According to several local media, 270 firefighters from Aude and Hérault should join them.

Air assets are also on site, including four canadairs.
