A swimmer drowned in the Rhine near Küssaberg on the Swiss border.
According to the police, he did not make it back to shore because of the strong current.
His companion informed the rescue workers, who could not find the young man.
The accident had already occurred on Thursday.
The search was called off that evening.
On Sunday, a witness found a body in the water near Albbruck about 15 kilometers away.
"It is almost certainly the 31-year-old man who has been missing since Thursday," the police said.
The Rhine has its source in Switzerland and carries a lot of water at this point despite the current drought.
