Anna Zak and Yael Shelvia prove: the shiny trend is back - and in a big way
In the 1960s, the shiny fabrics were adopted as inspiration from the space age and re-emerged in the pop era of the nineties.
Today, when a private flight into space is already a matter applicable to billionaires and everyone is talking about the Metaverse - they are here again to take over your wardrobe

While the obsession with fashion trends since the beginning of the millennium is insatiable, these are usually phenomena that are really easy to label as suitable for the teenage segment in their 20s.
In reality, who among us can really embrace key items such as semi-transparent corsets, tiny belly tops, clothes in pink-blue-purple shades, lace mini skirts and ultra-low pants?
In the bottom line, the answer to this is Barbie, which is joined by the pioneers of Body Positive, the flag bearers who succeed with great courage in demonstrating a message that may be important and welcome, but mostly succeeds mainly in the virtual mediums.
But, in fashion, nothing is binary or unequivocal and the possibility of finding here and there categories that can fit a wider and more diverse range of women always exists.
A good example of this is the trend of shiny items, which, although it never completely disappeared from the map, it is possible to notice a sharp increase in its popularity in recent times thanks to reputed fashion leaders.

Here and there
At the local level, the hot Hit Girls
Anna Zeke
and
Yael Shelvia
- who also undoubtedly have a classic Barbie block - have already marked V.
On an international level it starts with
Kylie Jenner
,
Hailey Bieber
and
Dua Lipa
, other versions of Barbie, but in addition to them the trend is translated in a more mature way through less girlish influencers such as
Grace Ghanem
and
Queen of Spain
Letisia who was spotted about two weeks ago in a shiny black maxi dress from Adder Stories (NIS 455) at the Mallorca Film Festival.
What's more, we must talk about the chippy vibe and admit that it is a present part of the story.
Remember, the leaders of the era to which the reference is directed are
Paris Hilton
and the
Spice Girls
But the original incarnation of the shiny trend was actually drawn from the sixties - a decade that brought to the fashion discourse the Space Age style inspired by the space race during the Cold War and was reflected in the use of shiny synthetic fabrics that seemingly expressed the technological progress on clothing details.

Prepare yourselves for meteors...
In today's terms, the space age has been somewhat abandoned in favor of the Metaverse world, an augmented virtual reality that many believe represents the virtual future towards which the network is moving, including
Mark Zuckerberg
who announced about a year ago the change of Facebook's name to "Meta".
The glam translation of the futuristic vision from the past includes a mix of shiny thin textiles as can be found in the collections of the fashion houses Saint Laurent, Katy New York and Dolce Gabbana.
But as we mentioned before, the unapologetic cheapness is part of the charm of the phenomenon, so it is recommended to surrender humbly and also flow with details of chains with a correspondingly cheap price tag.
