Famous for their 365 white and pink sand beaches, for the friendliness of the population and for the sun that shines all year round, the Antigua & Barbuda islands also show a green face and offer authentic eco-friendly holidays.

The uncontaminated and breathtaking nature of the two islands in the heart of the Caribbean Sea invites to new and surprising experiences.

First you can explore the Green Corridor that stretches along the southwestern coast of Antigua, from the village of Bolans to that of John Hughes.

    Opened in July 2017, it is an area that hosts tourism companies that are sustainable from an environmental, social and cultural point of view.

The pristine landscape of the "green corridor" offers the opportunity to undertake various hiking trails, suitable for all: the most popular walks include Mont Obama, the highest peak in Antigua;

Signal Hill, the second highest peak in the Caribbean country and the Wallings Dam, the perfect place for a cool picnic.

More experienced hikers can try their hand at Rendezvous Bay where various trails reach one of the island's pristine beaches, from where on clear days you can see the Montserrat volcano and the islands of Guadalupe and Redonda.

    The nature immersion continues with a boat ride to Barbuda, the sister island and home to the largest frigate bird colony in the Western Hemisphere.

The Frigate Bird Sanctuary is located in Codrington, the capital of Barbuda, in the northwestern lagoon of the island and is only accessible by sea with an expert tour guide.

The reserve is home to over 170 species of birds and more than 5 thousand frigates, a total of 100 thousand birds, with the opportunity to admire the Fregata magnificens up close, an aquatic bird with the largest wingspan in the world compared to the size of the body.

    There are many other experiences that allow you to venture into the nature of the two islands;

among these the possibility of embarking from Antigua to Laviscount Island, where you can interact with the giant tortoises of Aldabra: getting to know the oldest living animal on the planet up close is a truly exciting experience.

Other attractions include the chance to admire Lesser Antillean iguanas and colorful parrots, follow hiking trails and snorkel.

The island offers single and combined tours and, in collaboration with "Adventure Antigua", the eco-tour that includes the island of Laviscount and the incredible natural formation "Hell's Gate" in the north-east of the island.

    A green adventure awaits travelers also off the north coast of Antigua, in the largest marine park on the island, which is home to the picturesque Great Bird Island, among many others.

Crossing the protected marine coast, with the islets covered with birds and the shores dotted with mangroves, you reach The Bird's Nest;

here along the covered path it is possible to meet the very rare and harmless running snake.

There are many activities to do in this area: from the suggestive access to the island through the great staircase, which extends over the plateaus, to snorkeling around the coral reef among turtles and stingrays, to a well-deserved rest with an authentic Antiguanian barbecue.

    With the cool wind of the trade winds and the many attractions to discover, visitors who want a relaxing cycling experience can opt for an e-bike tour, slow down and enjoy the scenery.

There are six routes to choose from, which allow you to admire the history, the panoramic views and the beaches of the Caribbean country.

You can cycle north to Jabberwock Beach, south along Fig Tree Drive, east to Betty's Hope two mills and the Devil's Bridge natural arch, or west to historic Fort Barrington.

Visitors can also embark on a historic city tour of St.

    John's with a stop at Fort James or head to English Harbor to explore Antigua's Unesco World Heritage sites.
