When you want to roast potatoes in the oven and you want them to be extra crispy, you need one simple ingredient: baking powder.
Potatoes are a popular side dish in every form: as fries, puree, fried potatoes or baked potatoes.
The latter can also be served as crispy bites from the oven.
Then they should of course be particularly crispy and not mushy or limp.
This can also be done in the oven, so you don't have to buy an extra deep fryer.
The secret ingredient for crispy potatoes is baking powder.
Trick for crispy potatoes: How it works with baking powder
You only need a teaspoon of baking soda for this trick.
This breaks down the pectin of the potato and brings the starch to the surface.
This will make your roasted potatoes crispier than ever!
Incidentally, this tip also works with baking soda instead of baking powder.

Crispy potatoes thanks to bank powder: Here's how
Depending on your personal preference, peel the potatoes or leave the skin on.
Cut the potatoes into equal-sized pieces.
Put a large pot of water on, bring it to a boil and add some salt and 1 tsp baking powder.
Put the potato pieces in the boiling water and let them cook for about 20 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 180 °C top/bottom heat and place a casserole dish in it.
Drain the boiled potatoes and toss them in a bowl with a little olive oil and salt.
Also put some olive oil in the casserole dish in the oven.
Then add the potatoes and roast them in the oven for about 35 minutes.
Turn the potato pieces a few times so that they turn golden brown on all sides.
And your deliciously crispy potatoes from the oven are ready.
